Windows NT Networks

Reform can run directly on Windows NT file server. This is the recommended solution since Windows NT is designed to handling different tasks efficiently. By installing Reform on the NT Server, Reform is allowed to perform to its peak efficiency and it is less prone to problems. There are some potential problems when Reform is installed onto a non-dedicated workstations like Windows 95/98. First, Windows 95/98 is not designed to handle multi-task efficiently. Reform is not be able to perform as efficiently as on a dedicated system. Second, user might unintentionally turn off or reboot his/her machine due to an application failure. As a result, Reform process might get interrupted causing a loss of printed data.

Setup Instructions for NT Environment:

First create a directory on the NT file server and call it "spooler" or something to that effect. This directory will serve as a shared directory between the workstations and a server running Reform Professional. Next, install Reform Professional version on the NT server. In Reform setup, change the "spooler directory location" to the shared spooler location on the NT file server. The applications to be used with Reform will need to redirect their printouts to this directory in order for Reform to detect and process the output files.
